Study: 2 nights of sleep are better than 1 for truck drivers

Anyone who has driven in Chalfont has likely seen some large semitrailer trucks on the road. While trucking is an important business in Pennsylvania, the truck industry has historically been very concerned with profits, sometimes at the cost of motorist safety. Sadly, there are a number of truck accidents that happen in the Philadelphia metro area each year, many of which are fatal. Sometimes, the accident could easily have been prevented if the trucker had just one night more of sleep.

2.6 million households are headed by single fathers

It is hardly news to people in Bucks County that many marriages will end in divorce. While there are certainly many couples who would much rather be divorced but who will stay together for the children, divorce is also increasingly common among Pennsylvania parents, too. And, with divorce, comes child custody and visitation orders.

Tis the season to divorce?

According to some within the divorce industry, January to March sees more divorces than other times of the year. Although some dispute that assertion, this time of year still has the reputation of having the highest rate of divorce. Whether people in Blue Bell are seeing a similar rise remains to be seen, but for those individuals considering divorce, it may be time to look for a family law lawyer who can help guide a couple through a collaborative divorce.

Snowy, icy conditions caused 100-car Pennsylvania Turnpike pileup

Doylestown has been digging out after a massive winter storm blew through much of the Northeast earlier in the week, but it was on Pennsylvania's roads that some of the worst damage had been done. The Pennsylvania Turnpike appears to have gotten quite icy and snowy in the storm, which appears to have contributed to a 100-vehicle pileup. Though the weather conditions could certainly be blamed, it is also up to individual drivers to drive carefully and slowly in and following adverse weather conditions. Ultimately, an icy road can be traversed without incident if the motorist is driving for the conditions.

Will your divorce get you in trouble with the IRS?

It's the time of year to which many people in Philadelphia certainly don't look forward: tax season. Filing our taxes may be tedious, difficult or confusing, but trying to file taxes after a divorce could lead to some unexpected consequences: a tax audit. While there is no guarantee that someone will be subject to an audit following a divorce, the chance of an audit increases if one spouse hid assets from the IRS in the past.

Wife uses postnuptial agreement to protect her share of assets

Very few people in Philadelphia get married knowing that they will divorce. Unfortunately, all the best intentions and love at the beginning of a marriage won't save some relationships. And that's fine, not all marriages are meant to work out, but it is important that when they don't, both spouses are protected. Especially with those couples who have a substantial marital estate, protecting assets and ensuring that both spouses get a fair divorce settlement is important.
