Man killed by wrong-way driver in Pennsylvania

A Pennsylvania man died in a Nov. 8 accident involving a wrong-way driver, according to authorities. Reportedly, the incident occurred on Route 66. Officials suspect that the wrong-way driver was trying to avoid hitting a deer at the time of the accident.

The crash happened at about 10 p.m. That is when a northbound GMC SUV veered into the highway's southbound lanes near the Quail Road intersection and hit an oncoming Nissan pickup truck.

The pickup truck's two occupants, a 53-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries on account of the wreck. Both received emergency transport via helicopter to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The man died at the hospital due to his accident-related injuries. Officials described the 58-year-old woman's condition as stable.

The driver of the GMC and a passenger in the SUV also suffered minor injuries. They were reportedly transported to a hospital in Clarion.

When motorists die in a traffic accident brought about by the negligence of another driver, the families of the decedents may want to explore the possibility of pursuing civil action.
