A Penske rental truck slammed into the back of a 49-year-old woman's car stopped at a red light on Route 65 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, and killed her, said the city's police chief. Witnesses and the lack of skid marks suggest that the truck did not have its brakes applied at all. The crash pushed the woman's vehicle about 260 feet and smashed the trunk into the backseat.
A Mercersburg man who pleaded no contest to aggravated assault and homicide by vehicle faced sentencing on Dec. 17. The 20-year-old man driving a Ford Mustang killed one teenager and severely injured another in a 2013 car accident, and he received 18 months to 10 years in a state prison for the charges.
One man was killed on Nov. 21 in Shaler Township after a tire came loose from a trailer being hauled by a pickup truck, which crashed into the 75-year-old's windshield. The incident occurred nearby the Shaler Water Facility on Route 28. No one else was injured in the accident.
