Pennsylvania State Police reported that the 59-year-old man who lost his wife and son in a head-on car accident on Interstate 81 remains in serious condition at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. He had been traveling in a vehicle with his family when it was hit by a car that shifted into oncoming traffic.
According to authorities, a 28-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation truck and a Jeep. The accident occurred on March 20 in Tunkhannock Township at the intersection of Route 115 and Allegheny Drive.
On Feb. 25, a drunk driver accused of killing an Indiana Township man in a 2013 head-on collision pleaded guilty to the crime as part of a plea deal. The 64-year-old Penn Hills man will be sentenced to between three and six years in prison before an Allegheny County Common Pleas judge on May 20.

A Pennsylvania man died in a Nov. 8 accident involving a wrong-way driver, according to authorities. Reportedly, the incident occurred on Route 66. Officials suspect that the wrong-way driver was trying to avoid hitting a deer at the time of the accident.
Philadelphia police are searching for the driver of a rental vehicle who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian on Allegheny Avenue on Sept. 12. The rental vehicle, an SUV, was abandoned several blocks from the pedestrian accident, according to police.
An Allentown accident left three people injured, authorities stated. The July 2 crash reportedly occurred at the intersection of Irving Street and Hanover Avenue.
Doylestown has been digging out after a massive winter storm blew through much of the Northeast earlier in the week, but it was on Pennsylvania's roads that some of the worst damage had been done. The Pennsylvania Turnpike appears to have gotten quite icy and snowy in the storm, which appears to have contributed to a 100-vehicle pileup. Though the weather conditions could certainly be blamed, it is also up to individual drivers to drive carefully and slowly in and following adverse weather conditions. Ultimately, an icy road can be traversed without incident if the motorist is driving for the conditions.
