Fatal car accident claims life of a young man, injures another

Just outside of Philadelphia in Clifton Heights, a college freshman was killed earlier this month. The teenager had been walking with two friends on the sidewalk along West Baltimore Pike when a car jumped the curb and struck two of the teens. Sadly, one died after being taken to Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital and the other was seriously injured and taken to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. Fortunately, the third friend escaped from this fatal car accident unscathed.

While the parents of the teenager who was killed are likely mourning his loss, they may also be thinking about how to hold someone accountable for their son's death. It is not so much about the money, but more about ensuring that someone is punished for his or her negligent or careless behavior. The problem in this case, however, will be determining exactly who was at fault.

The reason why it is not entirely obvious is because the car that jumped the curb may have done so because it had just been struck by another car. So, perhaps it is the driver of the other car's fault. Or, perhaps both drivers are to blame for this tragic death.

In addition to a wrongful death lawsuit, the young man who was injured in the crash may also wish to file a personal injury lawsuit. The young man's medical bills are likely through the roof and he may need further medical treatment in the future. A personal injury lawsuit could help compensate the teenager for his pain and suffering, too.
