Serious accident in Southeast Pennsylvania injures 2

Authorities reported that a Sept. 3 accident in Philadelphia left two people with injuries. The 10:30 a.m. incident occurred in the vicinity of Roosevelt Boulevard and Hornig Road.

That is where a woman was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed and struck a vehicle in disrepair that had pulled off onto the shoulder of the road. At the time of the collision, the driver of the second vehicle, a 66-year-old man, was attempting to repair his vehicle, standing beneath its front hood, authorities reported. Moreover, authorities reported that the 66-year-old driver had turned on the vehicle's emergency flashers upon pulling over. The impact of the collision propelled the man into the air, and he ultimately landed on another vehicle.

Emergency personnel transported the 66-year-old man to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the first vehicle reportedly suffered a broken leg as a result of the collision. An ambulance transported her to Aria-Torresdale Hospital.

Catastrophic injuries often result from traffic accidents that occur at highway speeds. If further investigation into this particular case were to yield compelling evidence that excessive speeding or reckless driving contributed to the accident, then the at-fault driver may be susceptible to a personal injury lawsuit. For, people who suffer injuries as a result of a traffic accident caused by a reckless driver may wish to pursue financial compensation via civil action.

This legal recourse is available to such accident victims on account of the substantial and sometimes devastating financial stress that may accompany accident-related injuries. If successful, claimants in a personal injury lawsuit may be awarded restitution for hospital expenses, long-term medical care costs and even lost wages if their injuries prevent them from earning a livelihood.
