Summer driving is not as safe as you may think it is

When the summer months arrive, motorists take to the roads more than ever. With roadways that are free of icy patches, snow and other winter hazards, motorists believe they are safe. However, cautious driving is still a must. While the perils of summer driving are different from the hazards posed at other times of the year, they can still cause motor vehicle accidents, many of them resulting in severe harm.

Vacationers: Summer is a time of increased travel as families seek out premium vacation spots. Holiday travelers can clog roadways as they attempt to navigate unfamiliar ground. They may also drive too slow for conditions and pose additional risks because they're distracted by the sights, their GPS and kids and pets in the vehicle.

Construction: Road crews come out in droves during Pennsylvania summers. Construction on the state's roads is a necessary inconvenience, but it can also cause motor vehicle accidents. Please be cautious when driving in or near construction zones.

Young people: With school out, young and inexperienced drivers fill the roads. It is wise to practice caution around any motorist, but especially those that are honing their skills behind the wheel. Young children playing outdoors may also pose accident risks, many of them with tragic consequences.

Wildlife: Animals also make increased appearances along the roads during the summer. Even if you manage to avoid them, other drivers may not. As such, you may find yourself involved in wildlife-related motor vehicle accidents.

Regardless of the reason motor vehicle accidents occur in the summer, you may need assistance with insurance claims or a personal injury lawsuit. An attorney can help.
